Management of Acute Asthma in Children

 

Signs and Symptoms:

1. Persistent cough, wheezing, and difficulty breathing.
2. Use of accessory muscles for breathing.
3. Tachypnoea and decreased oxygen saturation.

Initial Management:

i. Salbutamol nebulizer: Provides rapid bronchodilation.
ii. Ipratropium Bromide nebulizer: Used alongside Salbutamol for additional bronchodilation.
iii. Corticosteroids: Oral Prednisolone or IV Hydrocortisone to reduce inflammation and prevent further exacerbation.
